The History of Gianduja Chocolate
Gianduja chocolate was born in Italy, in the Piedmont region, in the early 19th century, Napoleon imposed a trade embargo on Britain and its colonies, limiting the import of cocoa. To continue chocolate production, Italian confectioners added ground hazelnuts to the cocoa mass, thus creating Gianduja.
The name comes from Gianduja, a popular mask of the Italian carnival, symbolizing enjoyment & celebration!
