I welcome custom request or other intentions I can accommodate during the process of crafting your drum. Please note these drums are made to order :)

Two layers of solid beechwood and a third reinforcement ring on the bearing edge ensure that your drum's body will never warp or loose its shape. Even though most of the frame is not visible once I place the skin, I take great care in sanding it clean and smooth and shaping the bearing edge where the skin will resonate. Before placing the skin, I finish the frames with natural oils on the skin side and where the wood is exposed, to protect it and to enhance its natural hues and markings.

All of my drums are carefully paired with locally produced metal-free goat skins. Shaman drums require thick skins to produce their characteristic deep and resonant bass sound. So once the body is done, I select the right skin for the particular body. I soak and stretch the skin over the frame using leather rope, also locally produced. Once dried, I gather the rope in clusters to form a labrys style grip. My aesthetic is intentionally spare, offering a neutral earth-tone canvas for you to color as you wish.

Included in the price is one padded drum beater made with natural cotton filler, a leather sewn pouch and a beechwood handle that I sand velvety smooth and treat with natural oils.

Variation in wood, skin and leather grain, pattern and hues may be expected as these are natural materials.
